30th October 2011
Jurassic Lounge, at the Australian Museum, has announced a stellar new line-up of acts as part of the highly anticipated winter season launching on August 2, 2011.
Kicking off opening night will be Evil J and Saint Cecillia, a blend of country / pop fusion that layers gothic harmonies over drum loops followed by the fresh sounds from blues / industrial / pop duo, Woe and Sorrow.
The art of burlesque will also be embraced with 50s pin-up girl Kira Carden, demonstrating her unique ability to spin a hoop on every part of her body, alongside the wacky and gorgeous Lillian Starr, performing a non-traditional routine promised to make audiences gasp.
Week two will see indie and roots performer Ed Worland, blending loose blues with campfire acoustic, rock and light reggae. Followed by rockabilly star Pat Capocci, combining his incredible guitar technique with a highly entertaining stage performance.
Each week there will also be a silent disco, games room, film screenings and video installations by projectionists, Eightfilters. Or for a limited-time, guests can check out the Museum’s special exhibition: RITUALS OF SEDUCTION: BIRDS OF PARADISE.
With drink in hand, Jurassic Lounge guests are encouraged to explore the Museum at their leisure, come face to face with Australian wildlife, learn more about the important research undertaken by Australian Museum scientists and connect with rarely seen cultural items and scientific specimens.
Hope to see you there!
